SALINOFOR-VS® (granulated oral powder)
| Ingredients: | salinomycin sodium, silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate |
| Application: | oral |
| Type of formulation: | Feed supplement |
Description
Granulated powder from light brownish-yellow to brown in colour, with a slight specific odour.
Composition
1 g of feed additive contains the active substance:
- salinomycin sodium -- 120 mg.
Excipients: silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate.
Pharmacological properties
Category of the feed additive: coccidiostats and histomonostats.
Functional group: coccidiostats.
SALINOFOR-VS is an anticoccidial feed additive containing the active substance salinomycin sodium and excipients. Salinomycin sodium is a fermentation product of Streptomyces albus.
The eimericidal action of the feed additive, similar to the effect of other ionophore antibiotics, is associated with its affinity for sodium and potassium ions and with the ability of the feed additive to transport them across cell membranes. The mechanism of action consists in disrupting the transport of sodium and potassium cations in the oocyst, which results in arrest of the development of Eimeria spp. at the schizogony stage.
Salinomycin sodium is effective against most Eimeria species (Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. necatrix and E. mivati).
Upon oral administration of the feed additive, salinomycin is is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in the digestive tract and exerts its action on the mucous and submucous membranes.
The feed additive SALINOFOR-VS belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3) and is compatible with vitamins and feed additives used in poultry farming.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of chicken eimeriosis (broiler chickens, replacement pullets) caused by: Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. necatrix and E. mivati.
Dosage
Broiler chickens – 0,5 kg – 0,65 kg of the feed additive per 1 tonne of feed (equivalent to 60,0 g-78,0 g of salinomycin per 1 tonne of feed), from the first day of life throughout the entire growing period, and withdrawn from the diet 1 day before slaughter.
Replacement pullets (future laying hens) - 0,5 kg - 0,65 kg of the feed additive per 1 tonne of feed (equivalent to 60,0 g – 78,0 g of salinomycin per 1 tonne of feed), from the first day of life up to 12 weeks of age.
To ensure uniform distribution of the feed additive in feed multistep mixing is used (premixing in 10 kg, then 100 kg, then 1000 kg of feed).
Contraindications
Do not use in birds producing eggs for human consumption!
Do not use with tiamulin; do not use SALINOFOR-VS for 7 days before and 7 days after tiamulin administration!
Do not use simultaneously with other coccidiostats!
Precautions
Poultry may be slaughtered for human consumption 1 day after the last administration of the feed additive. Meat obtained before the specified period shall be disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the conclusion of a doctor of veterinary medicine.
