Composition
The feed mixture contains:
- bentonite – 472,5 mg;
- calcium formate (calcium salt of formic acid) – 190 mg;
- citric acid – 95 mg;
- silicon dioxide – 50 mg;
- feed yeast – 50 mg;
- potassium sorbate – 47,5 mg;
- sodium benzoate – 47,5 mg;
- calcium lactate – 47,5 mg.
Mass fraction of moisture not more than 12,0%.
Pharmacological properties
The feed mixture SK-450 increases the acidity of the digestive tract, improves digestive processes and suppresses the development of conditionally pathogenic microflora, is an additional source of phosphorus and trace elements, and increases animal productivity. It preserves the nutritional properties and extends the shelf life of feed. The reduction of pH promotes protein absorption and activation of enzymes and improves digestion. It creates favourable conditions for the growth of beneficial microflora.
SK-450 reduces the degree of feed contamination with pathogenic microorganisms (formic acid), inhibits their development in the intestine, prevents the development of diseases of the digestive tract in poultry and animals, and has an antifungal effect (lactic acid). Undissociated forms of organic acids are lipophilic and, penetrating through the membranes of bacterial cells, disrupt their metabolism and DNA replication, causing a bacteriostatic effect.
Calcium formate reduces the pH level and the buffering capacity of the feed, inhibiting the growth and development of pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Pseudomonas and others, and also improves the absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Calcium formate decomposes and releases formic acid in the gastrointestinal tract of animals, reducing the pH in the gastrointestinal tract, which is beneficial for the activation of pepsinogen, promotion of digestion and also has an antibacterial effect. Among carboxylic acids, formic acid has the strongest antibacterial effect.
Citric acid is an effective anti-stress component and stimulates the formation of chelate forms of calcium, potassium, iron, zinc and other trace elements in the intestine, as a result of which they are better absorbed by the body. Citric acid neutralises radionuclides and pesticides and is a universal antioxidant that prevents fat oxidation and spoilage of feed.
Potassium sorbate has an effective antibacterial effect and is most active against Escherichia coli. Potassium sorbate is an effective factor of mycological control of the digestive tract and feed; it helps to form an effective barrier against pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, E. coli and others) by inhibiting their vital activity and eliminating them, thereby enhancing feed safety.
Sodium benzoate not only decontaminates feed but also controls pH and pathogenic microorganisms in the digestive tract, which leads to improved animal health and feed utilisation. It also reduces the amount of Enterobacteriaceae in the cecum without adverse effects on the intestinal microflora.
Calcium lactate is a salt of calcium and lactic acid. Calcium lactate actively stimulates the secretion of pancreatic enzymes. At the same time, it creates favourable conditions for the development of bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus, which prevent the growth and development of pathogenic microorganisms in the small intestine of animals. Lactic acid stimulates the regeneration of intestinal villi, which increases the absorption surface for nutrients. Lactic acid has a preventive effect on the mycotoxin aflatoxin (fungi: Aspergillus flavus, A. parasiticus) and improves the palatability of feed.
The feed mixture SK-450 has pronounced sorption properties due to bentonite and silicon dioxide.
The action of bentonite and silicon dioxide is aimed at the adsorption of mycotoxins, free radicals and toxic technogenic substances (pesticides, dioxins, ammonia and others).
Bentonite contains calcium, sodium, sulphur, iron, copper, zinc and manganese.
Bentonite, as an active adsorbent, absorbs excess gases formed in the rumen during the fermentation of forages and thus prevents tympany in animals. One of the most important properties of bentonite is its high buffering properties and its ability to optimise the rumen content pH within neutral and slightly acidic values, improve the development of cellulolytic microflora and fibre digestion, and increase the formation of acetic acid in the rumen, which is used for fat formation in milk. In addition, bentonite, due to its content of trace elements, increases the intensity of rumen microflora development and improves the digestibility of all nutrients in the diet.
Bentonite increases laying performance; with a reduction in feed intake, eggshell quality improves, egg mass increases, faecal moisture decreases and plumage in birds improves.
Silicon dioxide plays an important role in improving feed quality for animals, acting as an anti-caking agent and improving feed flowability. Silicon dioxide has no toxic effects. It can also promote the slow release of nutrients in feed.
Yeast has sorption activity against aflatoxins, fumonisins and zearalenone. Due to the content of mannan and β-glucans, this component helps to stimulate immunity and enhances the adsorption of mycotoxins such as DON and zearalenone.
Indications
For increasing animal productivity, improving feed conversion ratio (FCR) and sorption of mycotoxins.
Dosage
The feed mixture SK-450 is administered orally at the following doses:
Pigs, calves, rabbits, poultry (turkeys, broilers, laying hens, replacement pullets): 0,5 kg – 2 kg per 1 tonne of feed.
