ATC vet QP52A, antitrematode, antinematode and anticestode veterinary preparations (QP52AE01, levamizol).
Levamizol hydrochloride – laevorotatory isomer, belongs to imidazothiazol group.
The mechanism of action of the preparation is that levamizol specifically inhibits the enzyme of succinatedehydrogenase, blocking the major for nematodes reaction of fumarate recovery and violates the bioenergetic processes of the body of worms.
Moreover, while researching of anthelmintic activity of levamizol it has been found that it increases the overall resistance of the organism of animals and can be used as a preparation for enhancing immunity.
Levamizol’s immunostimulating action mechanism is the activation and proliferation of T-lymphocytes, increasing of macrophages activity, increasing of mobility and chemotaxis of neutrophils.
