ANTI-INTIMACY (oral solution)

CHARACTERS

A yellowish to yellow, oily solution with a characteristic odor of the components. An insignificant precipitation is tolerable.

COMPOSITION

1 mL of solution contains:

Active substance:

- Medroxyprogesterone acetate – 20,0 mg.

Excipients:

- Benzyl alcohol, flavor, cottonseed oil.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

AТСvet QG, Genito-urinary system and sex hormones (QG03A, Hormonal contraceptives for systemic use).

Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), the active substance of the medicinal product, is a synthetic analogue of natural steroid hormone progesterone produced by the yellow body (corpus luteum). Its action consists in the conversion of proliferative endometrium to secretory endometrium; it enhances the hypertrophy of the myometrium and inhibits uterine contraction. Depending on dose, MPA inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotrophins, has an anti-insulin effect.

In animals, medroxyprogesterone acetate has a pronounced adrenocortical effect and inhibits the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol.

Medroxyprogesterone has an antiestrogenic action and reduces the plasma testosterone level in male animals.

INDICATIONS FOR USE

The medicinal product is administered orally to male and female dogs and cats.

Furthermore, the medicinal product prevents sings of pseudopregnancy and lactation from being occurred.

ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE

The medicinal product is administered orally, in a forced manner onto the root of the tongue or together with a small amount of feed 1 to 2 hours before the animal’s main feeding. Before use, shake vigorously the vial with the medicinal product. Administer at the following doses:

To stop oestrus – 0,25 mL (7 drops from the dropper vial) of the medicinal product per 10 kg body weight once daily for the first 3 days, then ½ previous dose per 10 kg body weight once a day for 7 days till the disappearance of oestrus sings not later that on the third day after oestrus starts. After the termination of use of the medicinal product, oestrus usually appears after 4 to 9 months. The use of the medicinal product is not recommended more than 2 courses a year.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use the medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation as well as in pseudopregnancy and lactation.

Do not use the medicinal product in animals suffering from diseases of the urogenital and endocrine systems, disorders of sexual cycle regularity, mammary tumors, as well as in immature animals (till the first heat)!

Do not use the medicinal product if more than 2 days have passed after the onset of heat!

PRECAUTIONS

If the medicinal product is used for a long time, changes in sexual cycle, increase in mammary glands, excessive appetite and increase in body weight may occur

The medicinal product should be used under the vet’s supervision, especially in greyhound breed dogs.

HOW SUPPLIED

2.5-mL, 5.0-mL polymeric vials with a dropper. 10-mL polymeric vials. Secondary package: cartons.

The secondary package with a 10-mL vial contains a syringe.

STORAGE

Store at a dry place protected from light at between 5 °С and 25 °С. Keep out of reach of children.
