Application: Oral
Type of formulation: Adsorbent (feed additive)

Description

Powder for oral administration.

Composition

1 g of feed mixture contains:
- bentonite – 725.0 mg;
- dry yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) – 162.5 mg;
- kaolin – 50.0 mg;
- brown algae – 25.0 mg;
- calcium propionate – 25.0 mg;
- citric acid – 12.5 mg.
Moisture content: not more than 15.0%.

Pharmacological Properties

The feed mixture has pronounced sorption properties due to the presence of bentonite and kaolin. The action of bentonite is aimed at the adsorption of mycotoxins, free radicals, and toxic anthropogenic substances (pesticides, dioxins, ammonia, etc.). Bentonite contains calcium, sodium, sulfur, iron, copper, zinc, and manganese.

As an active adsorbent, bentonite absorbs excess gases formed in the rumen during fermentation of grasses, thereby preventing tympany in animals. One of the most important properties of bentonite is its high buffering capacity and its ability to optimize the pH of rumen contents within neutral and slightly acidic ranges. This improves the development of cellulolytic microflora and fiber digestion, increases the formation of acetic acid in the rumen, which is used for milk fat synthesis.

In addition, bentonite, due to its microelement content, increases the intensity of rumen microflora development and improves the digestibility of all nutrients in the diet. Bentonite increases egg production; while reducing feed consumption it improves eggshell quality, increases egg weight, decreases litter moisture, and improves feathering in poultry.

Kaolin, in turn, prevents feed caking and clumping and also helps prevent feed poisoning. It binds irreversibly to the molecular structure of mycotoxins, preventing chemical restoration reactions and their repeated toxic effects on the animal’s body.

Brown algae compensate for the immunosuppressive effects of mycotoxins and serve as a source of minerals (macro- and microelements), including potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese. They contain a high amount of iodine, improve digestive organ function, enhance immunity, stimulate metabolic processes, and influence endocrine gland activity.

Iodine entering the body with the participation of copper and manganese accumulates in thyroid follicles as the protein thyroglobulin, from which the full hormone thyroxine (tetraiodothyronine) is synthesized, necessary for increasing animal productivity.

Yeast possess sorption activity toward aflatoxins, fumonisins, and zearalenone. Due to the presence of mannans and β-glucans, this component stimulates immunity and enhances adsorption of mycotoxins such as DON and zearalenone.

Calcium propionate activates minerals and prevents mold formation in finished feed. In combination with citric acid, calcium propionate retains toxins in an adsorbed state and prevents their release in subsequent parts of the digestive tract.

Citric acid is an effective anti-stress component that stimulates the formation of chelated forms of calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and other microelements in the intestine, resulting in better absorption by the body. Citric acid neutralizes radionuclides and pesticides and acts as a universal antioxidant that prevents fat oxidation and feed spoilage.

Indications for Use

Added to feed for animals and poultry to prevent contamination with mycotoxins and to prevent re-contamination during storage, transportation, and processing.
Ensures optimal feed quality and improves digestibility by regulating the microflora of the digestive tract, thereby increasing productivity of animals and poultry. It also promotes restoration of the liver’s barrier function.

Dosage

The feed mixture is added to feed by uniform mixing depending on the level of mycotoxin contamination:
- low contamination – 0.5–1.0 kg per ton of feed;
- medium and high contamination – 1.0–2.0 kg per ton of feed.

Contraindications

Not established.

Precautions

When working with the feed mixture, generally accepted sanitary and hygienic standards and production safety rules must be observed. Use only as intended.
Unused residues of the feed mixture or expired product must be disposed of by incineration in a specialized furnace.
