Pharmacological properties
DECAVIT is a vitamin-containing feed additive; its pharmacological effect is determined by its composition.
Vitamin A (retinol acetate) supports the structure of the epithelium of mucous membranes and the organ of vision, increases the body's resistance and tolerance to infectious diseases, stimulates growth and the reproductive function of females and males, and prevents foetal resorption and developmental defects.
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) stimulates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestine and their reabsorption from primary urine, the synthesis of calcitonin and proteins of the organic bone matrix and its mineralisation, maintains calcium and phosphorus homeostasis, and affects the formation and functional maturity of foetal organs.
Vitamin E (α-tocopherol acetate) is a natural antioxidant; it prevents the formation of peroxide compounds, protects cell membranes against destruction by lipid peroxidation products, activates enzymes of the antioxidant system, the synthesis of myoglobin and haemoglobin, prevents infertility, positively affects foetal development, and prevents myodystrophy and white muscle disease and, in chicks, ducklings and turkey poults, encephalomalacia and exudative diathesis.
Vitamin K3 (menadione), by influencing the synthesis of prothrombin, proconvertin and thromboplastin, plays an important role in blood coagulation and prevents the development of haemorrhagic diathesis.
Vitamin B1 (thiamine hydrochloride) is a component of the enzymes carboxylase, transketalase and pyruvate decarboxylase, which participate in the functioning of the Krebs cycle and in carbohydrate and protein metabolism, and prevents the development of cerebrocortical necrosis.
Vitamin B5 (calcium pantothenate) is necessary for the synthesis of coenzyme A (CoA), which plays a leading role in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, the functioning of the Krebs cycle, the synthesis of citric acid, acetylcholine, steroid hormones and bile acids, the oxidation of fatty acids, and the metabolism of short-chain fatty acids in the forestomachs of ruminants.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) enters as a prosthetic group into the composition of enzymes under the influence of which the synthesis of amino acids and fat occurs and participates in the synthesis of adrenaline, noradrenaline, serotonin, histamine and nucleic acids.
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) participates in haematopoiesis, the synthesis of methionine and choline and nucleic acids, has a lipotropic effect, stimulates the protein-synthesising function of the liver, and activates the synthesis of proteins and retinol.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) stimulates iron absorption and its incorporation into the haem molecule, erythrocyte maturation and collagen formation, ensures the integrity of blood vessel walls and prevents haemorrhages, and stimulates the synthesis of corticosteroids in the adrenal glands and hormones of the thyroid, pancreas and sex glands.
L-lysine is an essential amino acid that participates in mineral, nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism.
Indications
Prevention of A-, D-, E-, K- and B-group hypovitaminosis, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, uric acid and haemorrhagic diathesis, rickets, osteodystrophy, encephalomalacia, muscular dystrophy, cerebrocortical necrosis, perosis and anaemia in farm animals and poultry. DECAVIT increases non-specific resistance, productivity and reproductive function, stimulates the growth and development of animals, and prevents embryonic mortality.
