Pharmacological Properties
ATCvet classification code: QD07CB Moderately potent glucocorticosteroids in combination with antibiotics (QD07CB01 Triamcinolone and antibiotics), QD04AB Antipruritic preparations with local anaesthetics for veterinary use (QD04AB01 Lidocaine).
The anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, analgesic, and bactericidal action of the preparation is determined by the properties of its components.
The glucocorticoid triamcinolone exerts pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and desensitising effects. Its mechanism of action involves blockade of the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, including prostaglandins that potentiate the inflammatory process, a reduction in the number of mast cells producing hyaluronic acid, and decreased capillary permeability.
Lidocaine exerts a local anaesthetic effect and contributes to faster resolution of the inflammatory and allergic response.
Chloramphenicol and metronidazole have bactericidal activity and act against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi.
Calendula extract has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties, accelerates tissue regeneration and wound healing.
The combination of active substances in the spray promotes effective treatment of inflammatory and allergic skin reactions as well as otitis in dogs and cats.
At the recommended doses the preparation does not exert local irritant, allergenic, or sensitising effects.
Indications
The preparation is applied in cats and dogs for the treatment of acute and chronic otitis, and of dermatitis of allergic or inflammatory aetiology complicated by primary or secondary bacterial infection: urticaria, atopic dermatitis, eczema, diffuse neurodermatitis, alopecia, excoriations, reactions to bites of insects or other ectoparasite.
Dosage and Administration
The preparation is applied externally.
For the treatment of dermatitis in cats and dogs, the spray is applied as a thin layer to the affected surfaces following preliminary antiseptic cleaning, twice daily for 5–10 days until clinical recovery.
Before use, shake the vial for 20–30 seconds. Holding it vertically, press the spray head, directing the nozzle at the affected area of the animal's body from a distance of 10–15 cm.
For the treatment of otitis in cats and dogs, clean the external ear canal from crusts and scabs and wipe it thoroughly. Before use, shake the vial thoroughly for 20–30 seconds and, holding it vertically, press the spray head directing the nozzle into the external ear canal to achieve uniform moistening. Then fold the ear flap in half and massage its base. Treatment should be performed 2–3 times daily for 5–7 days. The course of treatment may be extended on the recommendation of a veterinarian.
Do not skip scheduled applications, as this may reduce the efficacy of treatment.
