CHARACTERS
A polymeric tape with a buckle of various
colors with a characteristic odor of the components. When stored,
blushing is possible.
COMPOSITION
Active substances:
- fipronil – 50,0 mg;
- ivermectin – 12,0 mg;
- pyriproxifen – 20,0 mg.
Excipients: Dimethyl sulfoxide, isopropanol, PVC tape.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
ATCvet QP53А, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents.
The collar exerts a pronounced insectoacaricidal
effect with respect to both larval and adult stages of fleas, fluff louses,
chewing louses, ticks (Ixodidae and Sarcoptoidea), intestinal nematodes, and Dirofilaria larvae in dogs and cats.
PerFect TRIO Collar is a combination medicinal
product containing fipronil, ivermectin, and pyriproxifen.
Fipronil, (RS)-5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-(trifluoromethylsulfinyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carbonitrile,
is a phenylpyryrazole derivative with an insecticidal and acaricidal effect..
Fipronil disturbs the process of the passage
of chloride ions in the GABA – dependent receptors of ectoparasites; neural
transmission, and nervous system activity, causing the death of the
arthropodas. It exerts no effect on the central nervous system in the mammals.
Following application to the skin, fipronil
is accumulated in the epidermis, hair follicles, and adipose glands of the
animal and has a long-lasting insectoacaricidal contact effect.
Ivermectin belongs to the chemical group of
macrocyclic lactones. The pharmacological action of ivermectin consists in that
it acts as an agonist of the GABA (gamma-aminobutyric
acid) neurotransmitter in nerve cells and also binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels
in nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates. In both cases it blocks the
transmission of neuronal signals of the ectoparasites and nematodes, which are
either paralyzed and expelled out of the body, or they starve.
Pyriproxifen is a juvenile hormone analog,
which, by disturbing the chitin synthesis and molting processes in larvae,
hampers the growth of competent pupae and causes the death of insects at the
preimaginal stages of development this resulting in the termination of
population replenishment at the egg and larva stages, prevents the sexually
mature insects from being occurred on animals and at the places of keeping them.
In adult insects, the medicinal product does not cause the death but rather
causes adult insect sterilization thereby killing in fact the insect population.
The active substances of the collar are
released gradually from the tape surface to the animal’s coat ensuring a
long-lasting residual activity.
The collar is toxic to fish and bees.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Prevention of and treatment for ectoparasite
and endoparasite invasion in cats:
- Fleas (Ctenocephalides
spp., Pulex irritans);
- Fluff louses (Linognathus setosus);
- Chewing louses (Trichodectes canis, Felicola subrostratus);
- Mosquitoes of three genera: Aedes, Culex, and Anopheles;
- Ticks in the family ixodidae, the hard ticks (Ixodes
spp., Dermacentor spp., Haemaphysalis spp., Rhipicephalus spp., Boophilus
calcaratus) at the imaginal, nymphal, and larval stages;
- Acariformes (Otodectes cynotis, Notoedres cati, Sarcoptes canis, and Cheyletiella spp.);
- Trombidiformes (Demodex canis, D. gatoi, D. felis);
- Digestive tract nematodes (Toxocara spp., Toxascaris spp., Trichuris
vulpis, Uncinaria stenocephala, and Ancylostoma
spp.);
- Larvae (stages L3 and L4 microfilaria) of Dirofilaria immitis and Dirofilaria repens.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
Take the collar out of the package and keep at
a dry, well-ventilated place out of reach of children and animals for 30
minutes, then put the collar on the neck of the animal, fix it so that a gap of
between
The collar should be loose on the neck and
should not retard the growth of the animal. When secured, the properly fitted collar
moves freely around the neck.
The permanent use of the collar ensures the
protection of the animal against ticks for up to 3 months, against insects for
up to 4 months, and against helminthes for up to 2 months.
The action of the collar against ticks
commences 48 hours after the beginning of use; therefore, the collar is
recommended to be put on 2 to 3 days prior to an expected contact to parasites.
If impossible to do so, examine the animal carefully before putting on the
collar to remove any ticks. If the animal is heavily infested with insects, prior
to use, wash the animal with an insecticidal shampoo and replace the litters or
treat them with an insecticidal agent in accordance with its instructions for
use.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the components of the
medicinal product!
Do not use in kittens of up to 2 months of age!
Do not use in debilitated, sick, and starved
animals!
Do not use to treat other animal species.
Do not use in animals during pregnancy and lactation.
PRECAUTIONS
In the event of an individual hypersensitivity
of the animal to the collar components and if any skin irritation signs appear,
terminate the use of the collar.
When handling the medicinal product, the
general rules of personal hygiene and occupational safety and health when
handling veterinary medicinal products should be complied with.
Take off the collar when washing animals. The
action of the collar against parasites will be renewed within 48 hours after
the collar is put on repeatedly. During this period of time, an additional
protection in the form of the PerFect Insectoacaricidal Spray is recommended to
be used.
In the event of manifestation of allergic
reactions in an animal sensitive to the components of the medicinal product, prescribe
antihistaminic agents and symptomatic treatment.
Do allow animals wearing the collars to contact
small children.
