EFECTVET (antiparasitic collar for cats)

EFECTVET (antiparasitic collar for cats)
Ingredients: FENTION
Application: external use
Type of formulation: ANTI-PARASITIC

Description

Polymer band with a buckle, with a characteristic odour of its constituents.

Composition

1 g of the collar contains the active substance:
- fenthion - 25 mg.
Excipients: isopropyl alcohol, special solvent, polyvinyl chloride strap.

Pharmacological Properties

ATCvet QP53, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents (QP53AF07, fenthion).

The pharmacological properties of the collar are determined by the properties of the active substance.

Fenthion is an insecticide belonging to the organothiophosphate group; its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase at the synapses of the parasite's nervous system, leading to its death. Fenthion poorly crosses the blood-brain barrier in warm-blooded animals.

The active substance is gradually released from the collar's matrix onto the animal's coat, providing acaricidal, insecticidal, and ovicidal effects.

The collar is well tolerated by animals and exhibits no local irritating, systemic resorptive, or sensitising properties.

Indications

For the treatment and prevention of ectoparasitic infestations in cats caused by: fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), chewing lice (Felicola subrostratus), sucking lice (Linognathus setosus), and ear mites (Otodectes cynotis).

Dosage and Administration

Remove the collar from the packaging and fit it around the animal's neck, leaving a gap of 1–2 cm between the neck and the collar, then fasten the buckle and trim any excess length.
The collar must fit loosely and must not restrict the animal's growth. A properly fitted and fastened collar should move freely around the neck.

Contraindications

Do not use in sick, emaciated, or debilitated animals.
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance (fenthion).
Do not use in kittens under 6 months of age.
Do not use in pregnant or lactating females.

Precautions

People with known hypersensitivity to fenthion should wear rubber gloves when fitting the collar, especially in the presence of scratches or skin lesions on the hands.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling the collar.
Avoid allowing small children to come into contact with animals wearing collars.
