COMPOSITION

Each 1 ml contains the active ingredient:
enrofloxacin - 100 mg.
Excipients: 1,2 - propylene glycol, water for injections.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Enrofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics. Its mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of subunit A of DNA-gyrase (topoisomerase II) Gram-negative bacteria, which blocks the process superspiralizatsiyi DNA molecule. In gram-positive bacteria, this process affects topoisomerase IV, rather than topoisomerase II. Under these conditions, transcription and recombination process are blocked in bacteria’s DNA.

The preparation has bactericidal action against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp. Etc.) and Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Pasterella spp., Bordetella spp. etc.), and also acting on mycoplasmas (Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma hyosynoviae, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Mycoplasma meleagridis, Mycoplasma iowae).

Following the parenteral administration, enrofloxacin is rapidly and completely absorbed in animal’s body and distributed in the tissues and 1-2 hours after the administration its active concentration in the tissues and body fluids is several times higher than the concentration in serum.

After the subcutaneous administration of 7.5 mg per 1 kg of the body weight, the maximum plasma concentration amounts to 0.8 μg / ml, this is achieved within 6 hours. Enrofloxacin is partly metabolized in the liver.

Approximately 45% of the administered dose is excreted in the urine and 55% - together with bile in the altered and unaltered form.
