tiamulin hydrogen fumarate – 100.0 mg

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Tiamulin is a bacteriostatic semisynthetic antibiotic of pleuromutylin group, and acts on the ribosomal level, inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria.

Thiamulin acts on 70S ribosomal level. The main place of connection with the ribosomes in 50S subunit, and the possible place of connection – in the joints of subunit 50S and 30S. It inhibits the synthesis of microbal protein, creating a biochemically inactive initiative systems, which prevent the growth of the polypeptide chain. Tiamulin has bacteriostatic effect. It has strong effect against mycoplasma (M. hyopneurnoniae, M. hyosynoviae, M. hyorhinis) and spirochetes (B. hyodysenteriae, B. pilosicoli). Gram-positive aerobes (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes), anaerobes (Clostridia spp.), Gram-negative anaerobes (Lawsonia intracellularis, Bacteroides spp., Ma Fusobacterium spp.) and gram-negative aerobes (Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida) show high sensitivity in vitro to tiamulin. Tiamulin has little effect against enterobacteria, such as Salmonella spp. or Escherichia coli.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of pigs and calves up to 1 year, suffering from dysentery, enzootic pneumonia, pleuropneumonia, arthritis caused by organisms susceptible to tiamulin.

DOSAGE

Intramuscularly at a dose of:

Pig: dysentery treatment - 1.0 ml per 10 kg of body weight, once a day for 3-5 days; for treatment of respiratory diseases and arthritis - 1.5 ml per 12.5 kg of body weight once a day for 5-7 days; at enzootic pneumonia - 2.0 ml per 10 kg of body weight, once a day for 3 days;

Calves: 1-1.5 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight once a day for 5-7 days.

To improve the absorption of tiamulin it’s recommended to warm the vial with the solution to 37°C. If the exceeds 7 ml, it is recommended to inject in a few different areas.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to tiamulin.
Do not use medicines that contain monenzin, narazin or salinomicin for at least 7 days before and 7 days after the treatment pigs with tiamulin.
Do not use in pregnant sows (in the first trimester).
Do not use in non-target animals.

PRECAUTIONS

Animals may only be slaughtered for meat after 14 days after the last treatment.
