Each 1 ml contains the active ingredients:
Tilmicosin ( in the form of tilmicosin phosphate ) – 250 mg;
Bromhexine hydrochloride- 16.7 mg.

Pharmacological Properties

TILMICOVET FORTE – combination preparation consisting of tilmicosin phosphate and bromhexine hydrochloride .

Active ingredients of the preparation are tilmicosin – semi-synthetic antibiotic of macrolide group and the chemical expectorant agent bromhexine.

Tilmicosin – is an antibiotic with a wide spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria , especially against Mycoplasma spp., Haemophilus spp., Actinomyces spp., Corynebacterium and Pasteurella spp.. The mechanism of its action is to block protein synthesis in bacterial cells by forming a complex with 50S- ribosomal subunits.

Bromhexine has mucolytic and expectorant action. Mucolytic effect is related with depolymerization and vacuum mucoprotein mucopolisaharid fibers, which improves expectoration , thus making breathing easier. One of the most important features of the action of bromhexine is its ability to stimulate the formation of surfactant – surfactant active lipid- protein- mucopolysaccharide nature, which is synthesized in the cells of the alveoli. Biosynthesis of surfactant is disturbed with various diseases of the respiratory system caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale. This leads to destabilization of the alveolar cells, weakening their reaction on negative influence.

The combined use of tilmicosin with bromhexine increases the concentration of the antibiotic in the upper respiratory tract secretions and sputum, accelerates its absorption, thereby achieving a high level of tilmicosin in the blood for a long time and accelerates the process of recuperation.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of young chickens from respiratory diseases caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Pasteurella multocida and other micro-organisms susceptible to tilmicosin.

DOSAGE

Orally with drinking water in the dose of – 30 ml per 100 liters of drinking water (75 mg of tilmicosin and 5 mg of bromhexine per 1 liter of drinking water) for 3 days. The treatment can be repeated later in case of stressful situations and new cases of illness.

During the treatment period, the poultry should only receive the prepared solution as the only source of drinking water. Fresh solution should be prepared every 24 hours.
