DESCRIPTION

A clear solution or viscous liquid ranging from colorless to light yellow with a specific smell of the components.

COMPOSITION

- benzalkonium chloride (BAC) 0.025%;

- isopropyl alcohol 50–70%;

- propyl alcohol 25%.

Excipients: water, glycerin, flavor or fragrance.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

The disinfectant SeptiVir in liquid or gel form has prolonged bactericidal, fungicidal, tuberculocidal action, including against the following bacteria and their strains, as well as antibiotic-resistant strains: Acinetobacter baumannii; Acinetobacter calcoaceticus; Acinetobacter lwoffii; Bacteroides fragilis; Burkholderia cepacia; Candida albicans; Clostridium difficile; Enterobacter aerogenes; Enterobacter cloacae; Enterococcus faecalis; Enterococcus faecium; Escherichia coli; Haemophilus influenzae; Klebsiella pneumoniae; Klebsiella oxytoca; Listeria monocytogenes; Micrococcus luteus; Mycobacterium tuberculosis; Proteus mirabilis; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Salmonella enteritidis; Salmonella typhimurium; Serratia marcescens; Shigella sonnei; Staphylococcus aureus; Staphylococcus epidermidis; Staphylococcus haemolyticus; Staphylococcus hominis; Staphylococcus saprophyticus; Streptococcus pneumoniae; Streptococcus pyogenes; Vibrio cholerae.

The agent has virucidal activity, including against hepatitis B and HIV viruses, herpes type 1 (herpes labialis) and type 2 (genital herpes), rota-, polyoma-, vaccinia-, adenoviruses, influenza A viruses, avian influenza, SARS-associated coronaviruses (SA CoV).

The alcoholic components of the preparation, along with rapid antimicrobial action, provide degreasing cleansing of the skin, and also facilitate penetration of benzalkonium chloride into deeper skin layers, ensuring prolonged action of the agent.

The agent promotes effective adhesion of surgical film after drying.

INDICATIONS FOR USE

Pre- and postoperative skin treatment and surgical wounds, antiseptic skin treatment for minor injuries and skin infections of bacterial and fungal etiology.

Hygienic and surgical skin treatment of personnel hands in healthcare and pharmacy institutions, laboratories of various affiliations; pharmaceutical and perfume-cosmetic industry enterprises; social welfare institutions; transportation; food industry and communal services enterprises; places of temporary residence; everyday use; hairdressers, cosmetology clinics, and salons.

Recommended for use in all branches of the national economy, medicine, communal facilities, transportation, everyday life, and other places where skin hand decontamination is required.

Surface treatment: tables, work surfaces resistant to alcohol exposure, phones, keyboards, etc.

METHOD OF APPLICATION AND DOSES

SeptiVir is a ready-to-use solution for external use.

Hygienic hand disinfection: apply 3 ml of the agent on the palm and rub into the skin until dry, for at least 30 seconds (for viral infection prevention, at least 3 minutes), paying special attention to nail beds and interdigital areas.

Disinfection of hands of surgeons and others involved in surgery: before application, hands and forearms are carefully washed according to accepted methods, then dried with a sterile gauze cloth. Then 5 ml of the agent is applied on the palm and rubbed into the skin for 2.5 minutes, keeping the skin moist for 5 minutes. Sterile gloves are put on after complete drying.

Disinfection of the surgical field skin (including catheterization and joint puncture) and donor elbow folds: the skin is wiped twice in sequence with separate sterile gauze swabs soaked with the agent. Exposure time after treatment – 2 minutes. Before surgery, the patient takes a shower (bath), changes clothes.

Injection field skin disinfection: the skin is wiped with a sterile cotton swab soaked in the agent. Exposure time after treatment – 1 minute.

Surface treatment: tables, work surfaces resistant to alcohol, phones, keyboards, etc.: moisten the surface with the agent using a damp swab or spray method, maintain exposure time – 1 minute.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.

Do not use for antiseptic treatment of mucous membranes, open wounds, or areas around the eyes.

Avoid contact with eyes.

Do not use on the skin of newborn and premature infants.

SIDE EFFECTS

Allergic reactions, skin irritation.

Possible alcohol intoxication if ingested accidentally.

PRECAUTIONS

Do not transfer the solution from one bottle to another as this may cause contamination. If transfer is unavoidable, it should be done under sterile conditions.

Flammable. Follow safety rules when working with alcohol-containing agents. In case of accidental spillage, collect immediately and dilute with large amounts of water, ventilate the room, remove flammable objects.

No smoking. Avoid contact with open flame. Do not use near ignition sources. In case of fire, use water, powder, foam, or carbon dioxide extinguishers. Flash point – 23 °C.

Use electrical appliances only after the agent is completely dry.

USE DURING PREGNANCY OR LACTATION

Risks of use during pregnancy or lactation are unknown.

DOSAGE FORM

Polymer or glass containers with mechanical spray or polymer dispenser from 50 ml to 500 ml, or from 0.5 kg in jars, bottles, cans, barrels made of polymer materials.

STORAGE

Store at room temperature in dry, well-ventilated places away from fire and heating devices, separately from medicines, food, and animal feed; protect from moisture and direct sunlight; keep out of reach of children.

SHELF LIFE

3 years from the date of manufacture if packaging integrity is maintained.
