Description

Light-grey to brown oral powder, granulated with specific odor.

Formulation

1 g of the drug contains active ingredient:

flavomycin – 40 mg.

Excipient: zeolite.

Pharmacological properties

ATC vet classification code QJ01 – anti-bacterial veterinary drug for systemic use. QJ01XX – other antimicrobial veterinary drugs.

Flavomycin is a phospho-glycolipid drug that is produced by a group of grey and green streptomycins: Streptomyces bambergiensis, Streptomyces ghanaensis, Streptomyces geysiriensis, Streptomyces ederensis. It has effect on all gram-positive bacteria that have no effect on lactic acid bacilli and bifidus bacteria; it suppresses development of gram-negative bacteria: Salmonella spp., E. coli. It assists in decrease of extra-chromosomal resistance of microorganisms to antimicrobial agents what increases their efficacy. Flavomycin inhibits the process of growth of gram-positive bacteria that are colonized in alimentary canal having effect on biosynthesis of the cell membrane of a bacterium breakdown of which results in death of a microorganism. No development of resistance to flavomycin is registered.

After oral administration flavomycin is not practically absorbed from the alimentary canal and it is excreted via faeces in the unchanged from.

Use

Treatment of decorative birds (pigeons and parrots) in case of gastrointestinal diseases that are induced by microorganisms sensitive to flavomycin.

Dosage

Orally in the dose of 0.075 – 0.121 g of the drug per 1 kg of feed during the period of 5 – 7 days.

If required the course of treatment can be repeated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to flavomycin.

Do not use for productive animals!

Caution

Do not use together with acids and oxidizers.

Pharmaceutical form and presentation

Polyethylene film packages according to GOST 10354 or any other polymer film packages 1, 10, 50 and 100 g each.

Storage

Store in a dry dark place out of the reach of children at temperature 5°C - 25°C.

Shelf life – 2 years from the manufacturing date.
