Description
Light-brown – brown granules with slight specific odor.
Composition
1 of medicinal product contains active ingredients:
- decoquinate - 60 mg.
Pharmacological Properties
ATCvet QP51, antiprotozoal veterinary products (ATCvet QP51AX14, decoquinate)
Decoquinate as a component of the
product has a wide spectrum of antiprotozoal effect, effective against
Toxoplasma spp, Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina, E. necatrix, E. maxima, E.
brunetti, E. mitis, E. praecox, E. bovis, E. zuernii, E. ellipsoidalis, E.
cylindrica, Eimeria arloingi, E. ninaekohljakimovae, E. intricata, E. faurei
and other types of eimeria.
Decoquinate
is the antiprotozoal composition of 4- Hydroxyquinoline, retains eimeria development at the early
phases. The mode of action of decoquinate lies in disturbance of electrons
transportation in the mitochondrial cytochrome system of eimeria.
Decoquinate
has its effect in digestive tract of stock and poultry, is poorly absorbed and
egested unchanged with fecal matter. As a result, decoquinate remnants in
tissues are insignificant and are promptly excreted.
It is compatible with vitamins and feed
additives used in poultry farming and cattle breeding. The product is
moderately toxic for homoiotherms.
Indications for Usе
Treatment and
preventive treatment of eimerioses in chicken (broilers, rearing stock), horned
cattle (calves) and sheep (lambs) caused by eimeria:
- horned cattle
(calves): Eimeria bovis, E. zuernii, E. ellipsoidalis, E. cylindrica;
- sheep (lambs):
Eimeria arloingi, E. ninaekohljakimovae, E. intricata, E. faurei;
- Broiler
chicken, rearing stock: Eimeria acervulina, E. maxima, E. tenella,E. necatrix,
E. brunetti.
Preventive
treatment of abortions and perinatal losses related with ewes’ toxoplasmosis.
Dosage
Preventive treatment of eimerioses in broilers
chicken, rearing stock:
The
product dose constitutes 0,333 - 0,667 kg/1 tn of feed equivalent to 20-40 mg
of decoquinate/1 kg of feed. The product with feed is given to chicken within
the entire feeding period (from the first days of life) removing the product
off the ration 3 days prior to slaughter.
Lambs and calves eimeriosis treatment:
The
product dose constitutes 1,67 kg of the product /1 tn of feed equivalent to 100
mg of decoquinate/1kg of compound feed (100ppm).
The
recommended dose for stock constitutes 1 mg of decoquinate/ kg of body mass per
day. If lambs are fed with limited amount of compound feed (for instance, less
than 100 g/10 kg of body mass per day) or calves are fed with less feed than
the recommended amount of 500 g/50 kg of body mass per day, the product dose
shall be correspondingly increased to get the recommended dose (1 mg of
decoquinate/ kg of body mass per day). For instance:
Daily consumption of compound feed:
Lambs (g/kg of body mass) | Calves (g/kg of body mass) | DECOCCIL (dose kg/tn) |
100/10 | 500/50 | 1,67 |
75/10 | 375/50 | 2,22 |
50/10 | 250/50 | 3,34 |
To
be used
with feed
within 28 days. If required, the treatment regimen may be extended.
Preventive treatment of eimerioses with
lambs and calves:
The
recommended dose of decoquinate constitutes 50 mg/kg of feed (50 ppm)
corresponding to 833 g of DECOCCIL product/tn of
compound feed. If lambs and calves get limited quantity of feed (for instance,
less than 500 g/50 kg of body mass per day), the product dose is to be equally
increased to achieve the recommended dose of 0,5 mg of decoquinate/kg of body mass per day.
The product is
given to ewes with compound feed at least within 28 days in the period of
possible oocysts excretion and risk of lambs’ invasion (i.e., before, during
and after lambing), and calves in the period of hazard of eimerioses
propagation.
Such a method of application of DECOKCIL
product with compound feed ensures effective preventive treatment of oocysts
excretion from ewes. In more severe cases, the product dose is to be increased
twice.
Preventive treatment of abortion and perinatal
losses caused by toxoplasmosis, when using DECOKCIL with compound feed for
ewes:
- used by
ewes in gestation period (pregnancy). The recommended dose of active ingredient
of the product is 2, 0 mg/kg of body mass per day.
- second
gestation trimester (the medium pregnancy period): 6,68 kg of DECOKCIL
product/g of compound feed to be given in a dose of 250 g/50 kg of body mass
per day;
- third gestation trimester (the late pregnancy
period): 3,34 kg of DECOKCIL product/g of compound feed to be given in a dose
of 500 g/50 kg of body mass per day;
- If ewes get
other quantity of feed, the dose of the product for the stock to receive the
recommended decoquinate dose (2,0 mg/kg of body mass) is to be accordingly
calculated.
The
product shall be fed within two last trimesters of gestation (last 14 weeks).
The farms
where the cases of abortions caused by toxoplasmosis have been previously
registered, the ewes susceptible to toxoplasmosis (the new stock purchased or
introduced to flock) are advised to be separated from others from the economic
viewpoint and to be given the product with compound feed as the most of older
ewes have adaptive immunity to toxoplasmosis.
When mixing the medicinal product with feed, its homogenous distribution is to be ensured (multistage mixing).
Contradictions
Not to be
used by does (ewes, cows) during lactation which milk is consumed by people!
Not to be
used by laying hens!
