COMPOSITION
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
ATC vet classification code QJ01 - antibacterial veterinary medicines for systemic use. QJ01EW03 - the combination of sulfonamides and trimethoprim.
Trimeratinvet is a combinated preparation consisting of sulfadimidine and trimethoprim. The action is caused by the action of the abovementioned components, which together reveal synergic effect, and as a result the activity of the preparation is significantly higher than the activity of individually taken components.
Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim in combination acts bactericidally against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including: Staphylococcus spp., Steptococcus spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Serpulina hyodysenteriae, Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.
The mechanism of action is consistent inhibition of enzymes involved in the synthesis of folic acid, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of thymidine bacterial cell. Sulfadimidine blocks the conversion of para-aminobenzoic acid into dihydrofolic and trimethoprim blocks the conversion of digydrofolic acid into therahydrofolic by inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase.
