TURYL 5% (oral suspension)

Suspension ranging from white to yellowish in colour. The suspension separates upon storage.

1 ml of the product contains the active substance:

- toltrazuril - 50 mg.

Excipients: sodium propionate, sodium benzoate, docusate sodium, xanthan gum, propylene glycol, citric acid, simethicone emulsion, bentonite, purified water.

TURYL  5% belongs to the triazinetrione group of medicinal products.

Toltrazuril is an endoparasiticide that is a derivative of triazinetrione. Toltrazuril is effective against all intracellular stages of the endogenous development of coccidia (subclass Coccidia), acting on merogony (schizogony) — asexual reproduction, gametogony (micro- and macrogametes) — sexual reproduction, as well as sporogony — oocyst sporulation. In addition, toltrazuril acts in the intestine of animals against protozoan unicellular eukaryotic organisms that reproduce by simple binary fission (asexual reproduction — "binary fission") or by conjugation (sexual reproduction), which is characterised by the absence of gametes. Toltrazuril disrupts the nuclear division process of unicellular parasitic protozoa and reduces mitochondrial activity by blocking respiratory enzymes, thereby causing the death of parasites. The product exhibits a broad spectrum of systemic anticoccidial and antiprotozoal (ciliates, Amoebozoa) activity.

Following oral administration, toltrazuril is slowly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, exerting antiprotozoal activity on the mucosa and submucosa of the small and large intestine. In the body, toltrazuril is metabolised via sulphoxidation and hydroxylation to form sulphoxide and sulphone derivatives. It is subsequently almost completely eliminated via faeces and partially via urine in unchanged form or as toltrazuril sulphone or toltrazuril sulphoxide (T₁/₂ ~ 6 days). Maximum toltrazuril concentration is reached after 18 hours. The product does not exhibit mutagenic, carcinogenic, or teratogenic effects. At recommended doses, the product does not interfere with the development of immunity in animals and does not cause adverse reactions or complications.

Treatment of young pigs and cattle for eimeriosis caused by Eimeria species susceptible to toltrazuril:

- in piglets: Isospora suis, Eimeria arloingi, E. scabra, E. guevarai;

- in calves: Eimeria bovis, E. zuernii, E. alabamensis.

Treatment and prevention in dogs (puppies) for enteral protozooses: cystoisosporiasis (Cystoisospora spp.), sarcocystosis (Sarcocystis spp.), cryptosporidiosis (Cryptosporidium spp.), balantidiasis (Balantidium coli).

To inhibit division and environmental shedding of unicellular parasitic protozoa.

The product is administered to piglets and young cattle up to 9 months of age orally, individually, as a single dose using a special dosing device, at the following doses:

- piglets — on days 3–5 of life at a dose of 0,4 ml per 1 kg body weight (equivalent to 20 mg toltrazuril/1 kg body weight), but not less than 0,5 ml and not more than 2 ml per animal. Given the small volume of suspension required per animal, it is recommended to use a dosing device with a precision of 0,1 ml.

- calves — from two weeks of age at a dose of 3 ml per 10 kg body weight (equivalent to 15 mg toltrazuril/1 kg body weight).

To achieve maximum prophylactic effect and to reduce the number of oocysts shed into the environment, in eimeria-positive herds the product should be administered before the appearance of clinical signs in the herd — during the incubation period.

- dogs aged 2 weeks and older with body weight from 0,4 kg:

For treatment ofcystoisosporiasis and enteral sarcocystosis: 0,2 ml per 1 kg body weight (10 mg toltrazuril per 1 kg body weight) once daily for 3 days.

For treatment of cryptosporidiosis: 0,2 ml per 1 kg body weight (10 mg toltrazuril per 1 kg body weight) once daily for 3 days, repeated in two courses with an interval of 7–10 days. In cases of severe infection, treatment may be extended.

For prevention of protozoal diseases in puppies aged 14 days to 18 months: once every 4 weeks, depending on the epizootic situation.

Before use, shake the vial thoroughly. Administer orally to dogs and cats by mixing with a small portion of feed.

Do not use in ruminants with functional rumen!

Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals!

Do not use in puppies under 14 days of age or in dogs weighing less than 0.4 kg!

Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to any component of the product!

Do not use in animals with liver or kidney disease!

Do not use in debilitated, emaciated, or sick animals.

Withdrawal Period: Slaughter of pigs for human consumption is permitted 77 days, and cattle 63 days, after the last administration of the product. Meat obtained before these periods must be disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, subject to the decision of a veterinarian.

Observe general hygiene and safety rules applicable to working with veterinary medicinal products.

Do not smoke, drink, or eat while handling the product.

Wash hands with soap after use.

If the product accidentally contacts skin or eye mucous membranes, wash the exposed skin/eyes immediately with plenty of water.

Persons hypersensitive to toltrazuril should avoid contact with the product.

In the event of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion by a person, seek immediate medical attention (carry the package insert or label).

Polymer or glass vials (neutral glass grades NS-1, NS-2, USP-1) of 10, 20, 50, and 100 ml. Secondary packaging — cardboard box containing a disposable syringe.

Polymer or glass vials (neutral glass grades NS-1, NS-2, USP-1) of 250 ml.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store in a dark, dry place at a temperature from 5 °C to 25 °C. Keep tightly closed in the manufacturer's container. Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: 3 months.
