Estrovet (solution for injection)
Ingredients: cloprostenol sodium salt
Application: Injection
Type of formulation: hormone

DESCRIPTION

Clear, colorless liquid, with specific odor f the components.

COMPOSITION

Each 1 ml contains the active ingredient:
cloprostenol sodium salt- 0.25 mg

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

The active ingredient is cloprostenol, synthetic functional analogue of prostaglandin F2-alpha.

Prostaglandin F2-alpha and its analogues (cloprostenol and fluprostenol) are strong luteolitic preparations. They cause rapid involution of the yellow body and inhibition of secretory activity.    Prostaglandins stimulate uterine muscle contraction.

Animals with normal sexual cycle have estrus usually within 2-5 days after treatment. Pregnant cows injected with the preparation during pregnancy (10 - 150 days) are aborted after 2-3 days after injection. Cloprostenol is approved in the EU for use for cattle for meat and dairy productivity to stimulate luteolisis.

After intramuscular administration Cloprostenol is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. The maximum concentration in plasma is reached after 90 minutes, followed by a sharp decrease in 90-120 minutes after use. When using single doses of 0.175 mg, 0.25 mg and 1.0 mg it is increased in plasma concentration depending on the dose. Repeated use of higher doses of cloprostenol concentration in plasma remains at the same level within 24 hours. The first signs of estrus observed after 48-60 hours after injection. The most favorable time for artificial fertilization is about 76 hours after the injection. With the introduction of sows after 111 days of pregnancy, most of the induced farrowings occur in up to 40 hours, the maximum number of farrowings observed after 24-35 hours.

INDICATIONS

The preparation is used to regulate the sexual cycle in cows and sows. Recommended by unnoticed or covert estrus in cows with normal cycle, with pyometra and chronic endometritis, with yellow body cyst to stimulate the maternity process in mummification of the fetus and unwanted pregnancy, to regulate estrus and ovulation for industrial breeding of animals, to stimulate farrowings of pigs.

DOSAGE

The preparation is injected intramuscularly.

Cows:

To synchronize appetite 2 ml of the preparation are injected twice with an interval of 10 days. The first time the preparation is administered after 40-60 days after parturition, the second time on the 11th day after the first injection. After 70-80 hours after the second administration artificial fertilization should be conducted, and is re-transmitted after 24 hours.

In cases of functional disorders of ovaries 2 ml of the preparation are injected and carried out artificial insemination at the first appetite. If appetite does not occur, re-administer the preparation on day 11after the first injection and repeat artificial fertilization after 72-76 hours.

In cases of uterus diseases 2 ml of the preparation are injected, on day 11 the injection is repeated, and on day 14 artificial fertilization is carried out, and is repeated after 24 hours.

Sows:

For stimulation of parturition activity 0.7 ml  of the preparation are injected once on 111th day of  gestation. Stimulated farrowing occurs within 24-35 hours after injection.

CONTRAINDICATION

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

The preparation should not be used for pregnant animals for which stimulation of labor activity is undesirable.

Cloprostenol is not applied to pregnant animals that do not need stimulation of the parturition activity.

PRECAUTIONS

Do not use intravenously.
When using the preparation for stimulation of parturition activity ensure that there are no obstacles for normal parturition (large fruit, malposition, obstruction of generic ways) not to cause uterine rupture.
